Friday Wine Tasting: Que Syrah, Shiraz - 2/10/12, 5PM to 7PM - $8.00
Syrah is the primary (sometimes sole) grape variety used to make the famous Rhône wines of Côte Rotie and Hermitage and in fact also forms the backbone structure of most Rhône blends, including Chateauneuf du Pape.
Although cultivated since antiquity, competing claims to the origin of this variety have it either being transplanted from Persia, near the similarly-titled city of Shiraz or to being a native vine of France. Starting in 1998, combined research of the University of California at Davis and the French National Agronomy Archives in Montpellier proved syrah is indeed indigenous to France.
More than half the world's total Syrah acreage is planted in France, but it is also a successful grape in Australia (called Shiraz or Hermitage), South Africa, California and, increasingly, Washington State.
Join us in an education on Syrah with our friends from BRJ Distributors!

Valentine's Night at the Bistro! Live Music & Menu Specials - 2/14/12, 5PM to 9PM

Free Music Wednesday: Andy Reiner - 2/15/12, 7PM to 9PM
From
Andy's website:
Andy Reiner has found true happiness in Boston creating a network of hardcore jammers, “The Fiddle Barn,” forming a unique groove that represents styles from all over the world. Ther Berklee College of Music proved fertile ground for meeting unbelievable musicians. Between jamming and gigs, he met all the future band members of Blue Moose and the Unbuttoned Zippers and FiddleFoxx.
After a temporary relocation for a winter to Salt Lake City to be a music ski bum on the legendary powder and steeps of Little Cottonwood Canyon, Andy now resides in Brighton, MA where the jamming never ends. Andy tours with Blue Moose and the Unbuttoned Zippers, The Earth Stringband, and Intergalactic Blam as well as teaching lessons, composing, and running his own production and publishing companies!
While Boston shines brightly as a new mecca for acoustic musicians, who knows what the future may hold! One thing is for sure: Andy Reiner is a powerful musical force that will be playing and creating wherever he is for a long time.
